We had the chance to do some indoor gardening with a science twist via the "Science on a Gardening Adventure Kit" sent to us by the Young Scientist Club. This kit includes items enabling kids to create a terrarium, learn about underground habitats, explore the different parts of plants, test the soil, design a mini-garden, grow all kinds of seeds, perform plant experiments, identify bugs and their habitats, make a working sun dial, and much more. It even includes mini-garden tools, plant stakes, and a tiny watering can.
We began with experiments on the included soil and before we knew it, we had a garden of plants growing on out kitchen window sill. My 8 year old daughter took the lead on all the experiments with a little help from me along the way. I really liked that this kit required "growing time" allowing this to be a more of a daily science adventure that she wasn't rushing through in one day.
