The Twins are showing some Brotherly Love

At 18 months, our twins are really starting to show how much they love each other.  Up until now, we had moments of extreme like and moments of complete dislike that seemed to flash in between tolerance and acceptance.  However lately I've noticed that, while they still fight over a toy or get jealous of the others time with certain big people, they truly care about each other deeply.

I often notice it the most when one is away from the other twin.  Cormac is typically the last to wake in our house on weekdays.  He seems to need more sleep than his twin Declan.  Declan will come down and hang out for a while with everyone, but eventually we find he'll end up by the stairs calling upwards for Cormac to wake up.

We've also noticed one will go get the other and lead him "hand in hand" to something deemed cool, fun, or perhaps even naughty.  Even toddlers have more fun when they have a friend along to share the experience.  Additionally, we've witnessed them giving up their own pacifier to their brother who is having a needy moment and even sharing a bite of a yummy treat because they seemed to know brother would love it too.

The most obvious and enjoyable example of their loving twin bond is their new fondness for hugging each other.  Currently Declan (the twin on the left) tends to initiate the hugging the most.  I should point out that he is the same twin who would demonstrate his frustration by biting his twin brother 6 months back.  Declan is the kind of child that wears his emotions on his sleeve.

I'm certain his twin, Cormac, is as thrilled as I am that love is in the air.
