An Earthquake in Chicago? Yes, Mommy can take a hint.

I've never been a very good sleeper.  Every little noise wakes me up and every little event keeps me from falling a sleep.  Combine that with being a mommy of 5 including 19 month old twins and one can safely assume that I operate mainly on a steady stream of diet coke.

I'm starting to think it is my destiny to be awake for as much as possible.  A witness to what happens in our house at night.  This way I'm ready and waiting for all those nighttime needs too.  You want water, I'm on it.  You need your inhaler, already getting it.  You heard a noise, I heard it too.  Can't sleep, neither can I.

The last few nights have been no exception to my night duties.  My daughter and the twins have been swapping off having this same stupid cold for eons and this week is Cordelia's turn.  She has asthma so a cold becomes huge drama and sleepless nights rather quickly.

Last night, she was actually doing really well though and the twins were, for the most part, getting a decent night's sleep as well.  Perhaps this would be the night /morning I need to just reset and refresh a tad?  Perhaps I could sleep in all the way to 5:30am just this once?  Yes, that would be sleeping in around here.

It didn't happen.  At around 4:00am there was a 4.3 Earthquake in Sycamore, IL.  Yes, there was an earthquake in Chicago land and I was actually a sleep for it.  I awoke to the house rumbling and windows shaking.  I awaited the children running into my room, the babies crying, the dog barking, the phone ringing.  Nothing.

Now one might question why they must be awake even when no one else needs a thing, but not me.  I get it, I'll just sleep when I'm dead.
