40 ... Yikes! How did that happen? Mom was right. At 15, 20, 25 ... 40 seems absolutely ancient but once you actually hit 40 yourself, it doesn't seem all that old after all.
So how will I spend the day? Same as usual, which is just fine with me. I'll be helping my 15, 11, and almost 9 year old get off to school, hubby will head off to work, and I'll be left to snuggle and play with my twin 20 month olds. If we are lucky, hubby will come home for lunch and then head off to work again. The afternoon will likely bring a nap for the twins and a trip in the car to get two of the three big kids. My oldest son will get a ride home from Daddy and then it's dinner time around here.
Dinner? Something sophisticated for my aged palate? Ah not exactly, I'm opting for pancakes, ham, and fruit smoothies. It's a crowd pleaser around here and everyone being content on my day is exactly what I want most. (Extra plus, broken oven won't be an issue!)
Entertainment? With 5 children there is never a dull moment around here, how can one not be entertained? But once the littlest party goers start to nod off, I have yesterday's episode of the TV show Damages saved on the DVR.
Late Night? Not likely, it'll be extra Eye Cream and off to bed by 10:30 (if not sooner) for my now 40 year old body. Maybe 40 is rather ancient, but I wouldn't have it any other way. However, I do wish hubby was the one who turned 40 first.
