Mommy is Safe or Sibling Justice? A Mommy Failure

I asked this parenting tidbit on twitter yesterday and received some fun responses. I thought I'd post it here too:
Your toddler runs at you full speed with a toy stolen from their sibling (twin sibling in my case), do you pick him up saving him or allow him to be caught?

Here's what I did:  I saved him without thinking, then found myself realizing what he had done and put him back down. Upside for him was that his twin brother had moved on by the time I put him down to face judgment, bad part for him is he got away with being a total stinker.

A Failing Grade:  The way I handled this one ended up being a total Mommy failure in my opinion.  The only lesson learned was mine. If I had it to do over, I'd probably still pick him up.  However, this time I'd quickly take the toy and give it back to the first child who had it.  I'd then consider a time out or offering a diversion toy.

What would you have done?  Do you easily recognize your own list of Mommy failures?
