Princess and Frog DVD {Review & Cupcake Recipe}

We received The Princess and The Frog (Three Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo with Digital Copy) for review and absolutely LOVED the movie.  The story is great, it really teaches children how hard work pays off in the end and reminds everyone that life is not without obstacles or challenges that they must overcome before your reach those dreams.

My daughter Cordelia has watched the movie several times since it arrived.  Which is super easy for her to do with the 3 disc combo pack.  She can view it on her ipod using the digital copy, watch it in the car using the DVD copy, and she can watch it on the Blu-Ray player in our family room too.  I'd be remiss not to mention that the animation is simply stunning to watch in Blu-ray.

The movie released this past Tuesday, March 16th and if you haven't snatched up your copy yet, you should.  In fact, Daisy from The Deal Fanatic Blog was telling me about a great deal on it buying it and a doll, here's her post if you are interested in learning more.  Oh and don't forget to enter my Princess and the Frog giveaway so you can win your own disc set!

In the movie, Tiana’s biggest obstacle to fulfilling her dreams is to transform back into a human and to open her restaurant.  Food plays a big part in the movie and since Cordelia has plans to watch this movie yet again this weekend with a couple friends, I felt it was only fitting to make one of Tiana's treats for them.

These cupcakes are straight from The Princess and the Frog: Tiana's Cookbook: Recipes for Kids.  Aren't they cute?

INGREDIENTS:
Blue food coloring
1 cup buttercream frosting
1 dozen baked cupcakes
12 large green gumdrops
2 dozen white chocolate chips
Black decorators’ icing

DIRECTIONS:
1. Stir drops of food coloring into the frosting until you have a shade of watery blue. Frost the cupcakes.

2. For each cupcake, create a pair of frog eyes by slicing a gumdrop in half. Press a white chocolate-chip tip down into the cut surface of each gumdrop half, centering it near the bottom edge. Squirt a dab of black decorators’ icing onto each chip.

3. Set the frog eyes on the cupcakes, gently pressing them partway into the frosting to hold them in place.
