Puppy Party Part 1: Baking Cookies
The twins turn 2 year's old on Sunday and our puppy dog themed birthday party is almost fully planned. Though I've yet to hit the store to purchase party plates and napkins, I did get a chance to bake some puppy shaped cookies with lots of helpers yesterday.
We used the Wilton's large batch roll-out cookie recipe along with some cute Wilton pet shaped cookie cutters and cookie icings to help create our yummy treats. One of my twins, Declan was a big fan of watching the mixer do it's thing and Cormac, the other twin, had a fun time playing with the dough section we gave him. Rest assured invited guests, we won't be consuming cookies from that batch.
After icing was done, the cookies were left to dry for 45 minutes before we utilized a set of Wilton Foodwriters to add our final colorful touches. The foodwriters are a great way to get all the kids involved in the decorating process without too much mess or frustration. They essentially just used them to write on the cookie as if they were using a marker.
The final results? I'll be revealing them at the party. Stay tuned for additional information, photos, and more puppy party tips. Additional posts will include the baking of a puppy dog themed cake and perhaps even "pup"cakes. Puppy dog party menu suggestions, puppy themed party games, dog party favors, and more.
Thank you to Wilton for providing some dog themed baking tools for our birthday celebration.
