Back to School with Fiskars for Kids & Mom

We had the opportunity to check out a large assortment of Fiskars provided items this back to school season and are thrilled to report that they've all made the cut. We were provided with items for both the kid's and myself.

For the Kids:

Starting with the "Fiskar's for Kid's" items ... we have one of my favorites, the Preschool Spring-Action Scissors.  These are the best!  a spring-action handle opens the blade after each cut, helping kids learn a cutting motion without the scissors falling limp with each cut. These scissors also include a safety-edge blade and blunt tip to help protect your little one.  Additionally, the large handle loops can accommodate right- and left-handed kids.  These are aimed at the 3+ crowd, but my twin two year olds have been testing them out under my constant supervision with wonderful results.

We also enlisted the older kids to help us check out the 5 inch Kids Scissors with Blunt Tips, the 5 inch Kids Scissors with Precision Tips, the 7 inch Student Scissors, and the 8 inch Graduate Scissors.  My 9 year old went for the 5 inch size, my 11 year old preferred the 7 inch pair, and the 8 inch pair went to our H.S. Sophomore.

Other kid favorites included the SoftGrip Ruler that can double as a pencil rest on your child's desk, the bow compass that allows for perfect arcs and circles with only one hand, the swing arm protractor which my 11 year old snatched up quickly, and the MessLess Sharpener that everyone wanted because it effectively locks the shavings inside, preventing shavings from going everywhere.

For Mommy:

In our "Fiskar's for Mom" items, we have some great finds Mom can stock up on. These Fiskar craft finds can then used later with the kids as needed.  No more hunting for the perfect last minute classroom trinkets, you'll be all set to make cards, treat bags, and other favors on short notice.

I highly recommend the Fiskar Squeeze punches.  They are like no other punch I have ever used.  In fact, they are the only punch to be awarded the Arthritis Foundation's Ease-of-Use Commendation and once you use them, you'll see why.  Gone are the days of sore palms and fingers.  Plus, the open punch head lets you see where you are punching for more exact placement.

The main occasions at our school are birthdays, halloween, winter holiday / christmas, and valentine's day.  With this in mind, I'd suggest the cupcake, one of the 3 heart designs, the star, the bat or witch, and the snowman.  These punches can be used to adorn tags on favors your pass out for your child's birthday, other holidays, and on cards for classmates, the teacher, and even family members.  In fact, here's one idea for a valentine card.

Another cool item to stash away for these needs is the Continuous Stamp Wheel Starter Set.  It allows you to continously stamp borders on items to decorate handmade cards and invitations, plus you can make wrapping paper and decorate poster boards for those school elections.
