We were thrilled to add this Diamond Collection Disney film to our collection which already includes another favorite, the first Diamond Edition offering, Snow White. In fact, 9 year old Cordelia and I could hardly wait to get Beauty and the Beast out of it's shiny new package and watch it this weekend. Our two year old twins were immediately drawn to it too with all the wonderful music it includes.
After viewing our copy of this restored film provided by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment for review, we had a chance to check out all the great Blu Ray features and extras. You'll find the Blu Ray disc includes three versions of the film: the original theatrical release, a special extended edition, and an original storyboard version. It also includes a Disney sing along mode, Audio commentary, and an interactive Beyond Beauty: The Untold Stories Behind Making Beauty And The Beast section. Also of interest are the interviews of the stars who have participated in the Broadway Productions of this tale including Nick Jonas, Donny Osmond, and Toni Braxton. Plus there are conversation with composers Alan Menken, Don Hahn, and Richard Kraft.
This edition also contains deleted scenes, alternate opening boards, a Belle in the library scene where Belle meets three new characters in the library, Art galleries, Family play games such as the "Enchanted Challenge" and "Bon Jour, Who Is This?", and an All-new music video featuring Disney Channel star Jordin Sparks.
