Space Chips Building Fun by Monkey Business Sports (Giveaway)

We were recently sent a 50 pack of a new building toy unit by Monkey Business Sports dubbed Space Chips.  Unlike other building toys we've played with before, Space Chips are thin pliable pieces that go together with other chips without the need for some sort of connector in between them.

The kids immediately began to pop the colorful chips together without a glance at the instructions, innately forming what we later learned were officially called drons and combo-drons in Space Chips lingo.

Based on the ancient Greek concept of “hedrons”, a fancy word for a 3-D shape with sides, these chips can be snapped together to form “Drons”.  You can combine the Drons to form even more intricate 3-dimensional shapes. To mathematicians these are called “polyhedrons”, in the world of Space Chips, they’re called “Combo-Drons.”

Once my kids had a general grip on the overall concept of this toy, they took a look at the suggested instructions  and made “Quacks the Duck" and “Waddles the Penguin”, still on the to do list is "Salty the Crab".  One of their best creations was an Owl who unfortunately was desconstructed by toddler siblings prior to me grabbing my camera.

Moms and Dads, I really like how small these are to store in comparison to other construction toys.  You could easily have multiple boxes of these on your toy shelves without coming closet to taking up the real estate most construction toys demand.  I also really like that Space Chips are different and as a result inspire the kids to think differently about how to create.

Would you like to try a set of these? One reader will be selected to win a 50 piece Space Chips set from the entries below.
