What will the bunny be placing in your Easter Baskets?

I love to see the Easter Bunny stuff the baskets with spring essentials such as bubbles, water toys, socks, flip flops, and swim gear. I'm also happy to see the bunny include rainy day classics such as crayons, coloring books, play doh, and card games. Healthy snacks are always a big plus too.

Other great ideas are to sneak in gift cards to iTunes, Target, Local movie theaters, Build-a-Bear, Ice Cream spots, and etc.

However, admittedly for my big kids ... it's all about what kind of candy is in the baskets. This year, the bunny is once again stuffing the baskets with the latest offerings from the Hershey’s Easter collection. This year's collection includes: Hershey's Cookies 'n' Crème Eggs, Hershey's Bliss Milk Chocolate Hollow Bunnies, York Peppermint Patties, & Prefilled Egg Hunt eggs with all your Jolly Rancher & Twizzler faves inside. Yummy!

On the hunt for some craft ideas, recipes, games, or Easter fun facts?  Visit Hershey's www.KeepEasterEasy.com.

What's likely to be in your baskets?

Build-a-Bear Workshop helps with a Twin Milestone Achievement

The twins did it!  They said bye bye to their pacifiers for good at Build-a-Bear Workshop yesterday.  We brought Cormac and Declan to Build-a-Bear Workshop for the very first time on Saturday and used our trip there to finalize our goodbye to our binkies.

We'd been working up to getting rid of our binkies a few months back, but were unfortunately delayed when we had to make a transition to big boy beds first due to our incredible climbing skills.  Back on track this past week we had gotten rid of binkie usage during the day, and were down to only using it at bed.  We knew the next step was the biggest one and wanted to make this final leap a positive and special one for our little men.

Build-a-Bear Workshop had recently offered us the opportunity to review a visit to one of their stores providing us with the necessary gift cards.  And as luck would have it, I had read something a while back about a fun way to create a bit of memorable magic around giving up the all important pacifier.

Our Build-a-Bear Workshop Bye Bye to Pacifier Ritual:

The twins spent quite some time deciding on the perfect new friends.  Ultimately, they both selected dogs which was not a surprise, they love all things dog related.  Cormac picked Velvet Pup and Declan selected Scruffy Puppy and then it was on to deciding on a "sound" to add.  They both thought the dog barking noise was funny, so it was one of those for each boy.

The real magic begins when the Build-a-Bear staff helps your little one bring their new friend to life by stuffing it with fluff, the sound, sweetly kissed and wished on hearts, and in our case ... our beloved binkies.

These pacifiers have for almost 2 years been a soothing security to the boys, and much needed calm to us.  Letting them go was no small feat for them or us.  And with the help of Build-a-Bear we made this monumental occasion one that will benefit us all.  The boys each placed their binkie into their new stuffed friend transferring all those "special powers of comfort" right into it.

No tears!  The boys were a bit quiet and extra observant as they watched their newly empowered friends be all sewn up.  It was a quiet awe moment that I really think they understood on some level.  Not once have they asked for their "binkie" since this special event.  They are still fine tuning their "winding down" rituals.  Sucking on plastic has been replaced with big squeezes and hugs from their new furry friends, extra sips from their water filled sippy cups, and "uping" the mommy, daddy, big sibling love as needed.

With the moment of binkie placement behind us, it was on to big fun with our new friends.  The twins enjoyed bathing and brushing their stuffed pals with the help of their big sister.  Big sister was also a huge help in selection of the perfect stuffed puppy fashions.  It was basketball themed apparel for the velvet pup and football apparel for the scruffy puppy.

Next comes the naming of the pals, the twins were obviously too little to decide this on the spot so big sister to the rescue again.  Mr. Corner is our football puppy and Mr. Dribbles is the basketball one.

The boys were quite fascinated with the house shaped boxes provided to tote your new pal home.  Each proudly held theirs in the stroller.  Additional time was spent coloring and playing with the box when we arrived home too.

Big Sister, Cordelia's reward was she got to bring the twins' pals to life online on BuildaBearville.com.  At 9, she's created a character and really enjoying exploring the online world the twins are clearly too young to be a part of just yet.

I really look forward to bringing the twins back to Build-a-Bear Workshop for future help with milestones and occasions big or small.  I can't wait for them to experience the fun all over again.  When I was there, I was inspired with a great idea for a visit next year.  I noticed little Bear "undies and briefs" and think another visit focused around potty training time might be perfect.  I wonder if they've considered a little potty?

Nick Jr. Favorites: Go Green!

Don't you love those combination DVDs that feature a whole bunch of your child's favorite characters all on one themed disc?  It's the perfect way to keep their interest sometimes.  Instead of back to back episodes of the same character, you have a mix of like themed episodes such as Nick Jr. Favorites: Go Green! DVD releasing Tuesday, March 30th.

Just in time for Earth Day comes this compilation of favorites from your child's Nick Jr. friends.  The stars at Nick Jr. are going green and caring for the planet in this Earth Day-inspired DVD, complete with eco-friendly packaging.  Treat your children to over two hours of entertainment with environmental-themed episodes from Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, The Wonder Pets!, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Blue’s Clues and Ni Hao, Kai-lan.

Thank you to Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment for providing the kids and I a chance to review this one in advance of it's release.  The twins really enjoyed it all, but I think their favorite episodes was the one starring The Wonder Pets.  In this episode, The Wonder Pets are called upon to save a little tree all alone in a city lot and a young elephant stuck in the mud in far away Kenya.

iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx DVD

On DVD tuesday, March 30th is iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx and if you have a child or tween in your house, you probably know all about iCarly TV series.  iCarly ranks as television’s number-one program with kids 2-11 and is the first scripted series to incorporate kid-created original content.  This two-disc DVD follows Carly, Sam and Freddie as they deal with all the craziness of school, growing up, and crankin’ out the best web show out there on iCarly.com.

I was sent a copy of this release for review from Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and Paramount, and its been getting lots of playtime in our home.  iCarly: iFight Shelby Marx features the two iCarly TV movie specials plus two bonus episodes (iLook Alike and iCarly Awards), as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes extra features that show fans all of the off-camera fun.  The two iCarly TV movie episodes were particularly hilarious to both myself and my 9 & 11 year olds.  You can't help but laugh along with all the funny antics.

I love having around DVDs the whole family can enjoy like this one, they are perfect to throw in the car DVD player for a long road trip or stick in the house DVD player on a bad weather or sick day.

Backyardigans: Escape from the Tower DVD

While the Backyardigans: Escape from the Tower doesn't officially release on DVD until March 30th, 2010 we've watched our review copy from Nickelodeon & Paramount Home Entertainment a dozen times already.  It's hard not to with all that fun for kids music included in each episode.

In every episode of The Backyardigans, five high-spirited neighbors meet in their adjoining backyards and use their imaginations to transform themselves into different locations for epic adventures.  My favorite part as well as my kids is that each half-hour episode of this Emmy® Award-winning show features a unique music/dance genre.

You'll find three new-to-DVD episodes in Backyardigans: Escape from the Tower.

In the title episode, Tasha and Uniqua are two beautiful princesses locked in a tower, trying to escape guards Pablo and Tyrone.  They have lots of tricks to aid with this quest including a really nifty mirror and some high flying hair.  The music genre?  Early 60's Girl Group.

In "For the Love Of Socks" Tasha, Uniqua, Pablo and Tyrone love their jobs making socks at the sock factory.  But when the giant sock-making machine goes haywire, only the factory workers can save sockilization.  This episode left us pondering the trouble one little pencil can apparently cause.  The Music Genre for this one is Bhangra.

In "Los Galacticos" Pablo, Tyrone and Tasha are Los Galacticos, a Mariachi band.  When they mistakenly board an intergalactic space ship, they are blasted to outer space and meet the evil alien Googors, Austin and Uniqua!  The musical genre is of course Mariachi for this one.

And as an added bonus, there is a Fresh Beat Band episode included.  It's themed with Hawaiian Music, including the Hula.

Princess and Frog DVD {Review & Cupcake Recipe}

We received The Princess and The Frog (Three Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo with Digital Copy) for review and absolutely LOVED the movie.  The story is great, it really teaches children how hard work pays off in the end and reminds everyone that life is not without obstacles or challenges that they must overcome before your reach those dreams.

My daughter Cordelia has watched the movie several times since it arrived.  Which is super easy for her to do with the 3 disc combo pack.  She can view it on her ipod using the digital copy, watch it in the car using the DVD copy, and she can watch it on the Blu-Ray player in our family room too.  I'd be remiss not to mention that the animation is simply stunning to watch in Blu-ray.

The movie released this past Tuesday, March 16th and if you haven't snatched up your copy yet, you should.  In fact, Daisy from The Deal Fanatic Blog was telling me about a great deal on it buying it and a doll, here's her post if you are interested in learning more.  Oh and don't forget to enter my Princess and the Frog giveaway so you can win your own disc set!

In the movie, Tiana’s biggest obstacle to fulfilling her dreams is to transform back into a human and to open her restaurant.  Food plays a big part in the movie and since Cordelia has plans to watch this movie yet again this weekend with a couple friends, I felt it was only fitting to make one of Tiana's treats for them.

These cupcakes are straight from The Princess and the Frog: Tiana's Cookbook: Recipes for Kids.  Aren't they cute?

Dapper Snappers: Cinch up those pants without a toddler belt {Review & Giveaway}

Hand me down pants are common place in our large household of 5 kids, however droopy drawers are a thing of the past.  I was recently asked to review a product called Dapper Snappers which is designed to tighten up the waist of loose pants on your toddler or preschooler without providing the hindrance a normal toddler belt would provide.

Dapper Snappers are a clever elastic snapping invention that attaches to the belt loops in the back of your child's ill-fitting pants.  The Dapper Snappers allow you to tighten up those trousers without interfering with diapering and potty time procedures.  From the back it looks like a belt, but it doesn't continue on to the front.  This means your child won't be fumbling with anything extra when they are in a rush to use the potty or dressing and undressing themselves.

If you haven't potty trained before, you may not realize just how HUGE it is to make sure pants go on and off without effort.  Buckles, buttons, loops, ties, and hooks can all spell disaster and frustration if too difficult for your little one to fasten and unfasten.

I love this idea and can't but think ... why didn't I think of this?  It's a simple easy to use solution to a problem I've faced for years.  It is clearly a more comfortable option then many of those adjustable waist style pants which utilize buttoned elastic inside.  My daughter often complained about the buttons digging in even when still loose.  Dapper Snappers are a particularly great find for the parent of a thin tall child that needs longer length in their pants but constantly needs their waistband pulled tighter.

This review and giveaway were made possible by MomMadeThat.com and product provided by DapperSnappers.com.  Dapper Snappers are Mommy invented, available in several different colors, adjustable to 4 different sizes, and are one size fits ages 9 mo-5 yrs.  They can be purchased online direct or from one of the several retail stores carrying them.  You'll also love their low impact paper based packaging.

If you are heading off to order some, you'll want to use the promo code ATM515off for 15% off your Dapper Snappers purchase until April 17th, 2010.  You might also want to take a quick moment to enter our giveaway first.  We are giving away 2 free Dapper Snappers to 1 lucky winner.

{Review & Giveaway} Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies

In 2009 the American Academy of Pediatrics significantly increased the recommended daily fiber intake standards, far above the previous "age plus five" rule. In fact, today's updated guidelines recommend 25 grams of fiber per day for four-year-old children.

Calculating in the picky eater quotient, a fiber supplement might be needed for some children. I recently had the opportunity to review one of these children's fiber supplements, the Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies.

My 9 year old daughter has been a picky eater for years and while she improves here and there, it's still a series of bargaining and begging to get what her body needs inside her sometimes. And while I was certain she was in need of some additional fiber in her diet, I wasn't sure if there was a supplement out there that could pass her taste test. However, the penguin-shaped Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies with natural fruit flavors were deemed yummy in her book. Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are sugar-free, calorie-free, and gluten-free too.

If interested, you can visit www.fibergummies.com to get a $1.00 off coupon and use the “store locator” to see where the product is sold in their area. The Web site also offers helpful tips on how to incorporate a high-fiber diet into a busy family’s lifestyle including some easy-to-make recipes.

PlanToys: Developmental toys that grace our shelves

At our house, we have some toddler and baby toys that remain out all the time and some that are kept on the shelves to be taken out one at a time with the help of mommy, daddy, or an older sibling.

The toy shelves consist mainly of a selection of wooden toys, various educational toys, and other developmental toys and games.  Some of these playthings can be used by my toddler twins alone and others are items we typically do along with them.  I imagine that these shelves, in the twins eyes, are a bit of a sacred special space where the best of the best are displayed.  Talking someone into taking one down for them to play with is a huge huge score in their minds.

It's hard to keep the attention of twin toddlers for long, so we tend to rotate through almost every toy on the shelf daily.  And as you can imagine, new additions to these shelves are always a ginormous deal.  With that in mind, our newest shelf item is called the Bee Hive and it was sent to us for review by PlanToys.  This wooden toy is full of educational and developmental play options, which is clearly the foundation of the PlanToys concept as well as this Mommy's.

This new toy comes with 6 colored bees with 6 matching colored hives and a pair of wooden forceps.  Fine motor skills are developed as the twins use their own pincer grasp or the provided forceps to manipulate their bee into and out of it's hive.  Additionally, play aids in the twins' knowledge of their colors by matching yellow bee to yellow hive and blue to blue.  An easy toy for twins to play together,  I simply divide up the wooden hives and bees for both boys to play.

We've had the toy a little over a week and I've already seen a marked improvement in the boys' color matching skills.  Always Exciting!

The bee hive is just one of the many preschool aged educational toys available from PlanToys.  They also offer baby toys, wooden toys for dollhouse play and city play, roleplay and activity based toys, and larger scale toys.  I already have my eye on a few more educational toys to add to our shelves in the future including the Alphabet A-Z, Trimino Bugs, Tower Tumbling, and Animal Memo.

Winner, Winner

Congrats to #18 twenty little toes, you have won the Mommy needs a time out tee giveaway!

Cheeze-it Italian Four Cheese Crackers

We were recently provided with a sample of the new Cheez-it Italian Four Cheese baked crackers and they didn't last very long.  The kids gobbled up this new flavor of these baked snack crackers in nearly record time and I confess I may have helped as well.

Four Italian cheeses are combined to create this new yummy blend.  The taste is a touch more zesty and sophisticated then the original blend of Cheez-it's crackers.  However, the flavor remains familiar enough that the kids don't turn up their noses to this newest variety of family snacks.

Home Design & Decorating Tips from Twin Toddlers "Modern Chic meets Demolition Duo"

http://www.candiceolson.com/I love home decorating.  Last year, my screened in porch decorating project was a particular hit among blog readers and it still seems to draw in some new visitors.  My twin nursery and my basement gym and playroom projects were also big hits.  I suppose I get my love for home decor from my mom, she loves to decorate as well.  However, I think I've finally met my match with my youngest sons.  They seem equally skilled in undoing my work.

I concede that virtually all kids have a way of taking polished out of the home design equation.  As soon as they begin to walk, it's bye bye to knickknacks and other non essentials pieces adorning the house.  In come the baby gates, plug covers, and cabinet locks; all of which I am fine with displaying.  I am even cool with the scattering of toys.

What I'm not happy with is the other design changes, the ones I never had to make with my first 3 children.  These "extra" changes are what leaves my house looking like a couple of toddlers designed it.  Since each design style needs a name, I'm dubbing mine "modern chic meets demolition duo".

Allow me to give you a little tour:

Entering through the front door you can head right to the dining room which looks fairly unscathed.

Next stop is the kitchen where you'll cabinet locks, warmer drawer locks, a fridge lock, high hinges on doors, a bread box turned backwards, and note 4 counter height stools over turned when not in use to deter climbing.  You'll also see an awkwardly positioned baby gate keeping the dishwasher from being opened by this toddler duo.  What you may not notice immediately is that the drawers are all emptied of their contents.  Instead, these items are in baskets either above the fridge or on the counter, because drawer locks were no match for these two.  And if you look closely you'll notice we've added screws to all of floor vent covers since pulling them up and throwing things down their narrow openings was far too big a temptation.

My family room bookshelves are now completely de-booked.  The fireplace is no longer adorned by it's beautiful grate, instead it features another baby gate with cardboard at the top.  Why the cardboard?  Because the 2 inch gap at top apparently scream throw your stuff inside me.  After fishing toys out for several weeks, I resorted to cardboard.  Looks fab ehh?

My office has to be the most dysfunctional work space known to mommy blogger.  I had to turn all of my file cabinet desk components around to face the walls so the twins would stay out of them.  Yes, that means I can't open them either.  You'll also notice my office chair is flipped over, again this keeps the climbers down on the ground.  Yes, that's beyond annoying especially now that it's been flipped so many times that the one wheel keeps flying off when moved.

I could continue dragging you room by room, but I think you probably get the current design style already.  The house is clearly having a safety before style, prevention before convenience moment.  Martha Stewart & Rachel Ray won't be asking to cook in my dysfunctional kitchen anytime soon, Real Simple isn't likely to feature our fireplace cover as an easy design solution, and my flipped over stools and chairs aren't likely to grace the cover of Elle Decor or land me a spot on Design Star.

However, I think the twins have taught me a lot about home decorating and I think it's something everyone can learn from in some way.  Essentially, I've had to completely refine my style.  Initially I felt I was setting aside my love for keeping our home "beautiful".  But that's not it, I've just had to temporarily rethink what I find beautiful about our home.

I find that right now, beautifully decorated equates to rooms no one can get easily hurt exploring.  This may seem like a cheesy mom thing to say to some of you, but I'm going with it regardless.  "In" is having a room designed to work for the moment, "out" is a space that can't change with your family.  Mind you, I'm looking forward to returning to a more elegant functional design in the future, but for now I'm going to be happy that I am at least instyle by my own definition.

Of course, if Candice Olson wants to pop by to with her crew to take on the ultimate decorating challenge (my twins), I'm certainly not going to stop her.

Charlie & Lola 10 DVD {Review & Giveaway}

Charlie & Lola fans and newbies alike will be happy to hear volume 10 has just released on DVD.  I was sent an advanced copy of Charlie & Lola, Vol. 10: I Can't Stop Hiccuping for my review and my 9 year old daughter instantly DVDnapped it for viewing.

Charlie and Lola appears on Playhouse Disney weekend mornings at 5:30c and is based on the popular children’s books by Lauren Child.  The new Charlie and Lola DVD boasts nine episodes including the title story, I Can’t Stop Hiccupping, where Lola gets a serious case of the hiccups when she and Lotta practice their song for the school concert. Though she finds her hiccups funny at first, eventually all Lola wants is for them to go away. Everyone tries to help Lola get rid of them, but will her hiccups disappear before the big performance?

My daughter Cordelia's favorite episodes from this DVD include: Our shop sells everything (in which Lola and Lotta sell a bunch of household items including Charlie's swim goggles needed for swim class later that day), Thunder completely does not scare me (in which Lola tries to pretend she is not scared of a thunderstorm), and I really absolutely must have glasses  (in which Lola really wants glasses because one of her school friends gets a funky flowery pair).

Featuring over an hour and a half of content, the Charlie and Lola Volume 10 DVD arrived in stores yesterday, March 9th, 2010.  Snatch up a copy of your own at a store near you or enter to win a copy below.

Kroger's Mirra Beauty Products {Review & Giveaway}

Who says beauty products need to be expensive or come from a fancy boutique?  I recently tried items from Kroger's exclusive health and beauty brand called Mirra., had I not known the Mirra line was found in a grocery store, I certainly would not have guessed.

Mirra aims at customers such as myself, family-focused women seeking effortless beauty.  I'm a busy mommy of 5 including twenty month old twins, I need quality products I can find at the same stores I regularly frequent when grabbing school lunch items and chicken for dinner. Kroger's Mirra line makes this possible for me.

The Mirra line is able to meet 3 different needs: Daily: routine personal care; Renew: rejuvenating time out; and Inspire: quick transformations for a night out. Within these three categories you'll find shampoos and conditioners; hair styling products; body washes and mists; facial and skin care lotions, cleansers and cleansing cloths; eye firming and age defying creams; and cosmetic brushes.

I received products (courtesy of The Kroger Company for review and giveaway as a part of the Global Influence Network) and became an instant fan of the Mirra body wash and lotions. They worked well on my sensitive skin and had a wonderful consistency, not too creamy and not too watery. The Mirra hair styling products were nice as well including a very pleasant scent.

And since Mom's are always checking the ingredients these days, you'll be please to hear that Mirra products are made with natural ingredients, such as olive oil, aloe leaf juice, and cranberry, bamboo, honey and chicory root extracts.

Visit Kroger's Mirra webpage for a coupon for $5 off the purchase of two mirra products at Kroger and Kroger banner stores.  You can also enter to win an assortment of their products below.

Indoor Play: Fun with Cardboard

While it's nearly every child's dream to have a new toy or game to play daily, it's clearly not an affordable option.  Or is it?  Last weekend, the kids really needed something new to do or play, these winter months can have that effect on the little ones.  However, a bit of creativity and some old cardboard items provided just what the kids needed to break their usual routine.

Paper towel tubes and strips of cardboard became weapons in our epic cardboard battle and suddenly each familiar nook and toy had a new purpose.  Various ride on toys became their jousting mounts and pocket doors provided shelter from the sibling enemies.

As a precursor to this battle, I broke down a cardboard box and cut it into strips.  I then rounded all four corners of these strips so no sharp corners remained.  To further enhance this idea, I'd suggest pulling out the markers and crayons.  This will help each child identify their cardboard battle items and extend playing time all the more.

Other cardboard play options might include fairy wands and crowns, cardboard play structures such as houses, cardboard food for playing store, and cardboard dolls that can be dressed in paper fashions.

Happy 9th Birthday, Cordelia!

Two older brothers, two younger brothers, our sweet Cordelia is 9 years old today.  And oh my how our little princess has grown!  The sweetest daughter two parents could ask for, Cordelia has sprouted and blossomed into our fun loving little tween.

A bit about our Cordelia:

Excellent student makes the list, she received A's with one B on her recent report card despite her share of absences due to her asthma.

Her love for dance is quite impressive, she dances 4 days a week and practices extensively at home.  Better still, she never complains about missing an occasional party or school event for competitions.  Hip Hop is her favorite of them all.

Helpful older sister to her two twin brothers, she is fondly known as their SissyMom.  She watches out for them, plays with them, reads to them, and has even kissed some "ouchies", and changed a wet diaper or two.  Their love for her is obvious, she's frequently ordered by them to "sit" so she'll stay around.

As for her younger sister role, she's supportive of her big brothers attending their sporting events, tolerating their addiction to buffalo wings, and even occasionally helping out with the illustration of their homework assignments.

Passionate about fashion, art, dolls, chocolate, and horses; an organized room is not always her thing.  Instead we frequently find a trail indicating what she's recently made, done, eaten, and worn.

And as much as we love our Cordelia just the way she is, I'd be remiss not to mention her stubborn streak and her insanely annoying picky eater habits.

And what made Cordelia's 9th birthday present list this year?  A camera of her own and fashion related toys.  Happy 9th Birthday, Cordelia!

Now with Dry Max Technology: Pampers Cruisers Diapers {Review & Giveaway}

I recently had the opportunity to try the new Pampers Cruiser Diaper with Dry Max Technology on my twenty month old twin boys. The main thing I noticed about these diapers was how thin they were, 20% thinner to be exact. The twins themselves seem to almost notice the difference. Without being able to vocalize it, they seemed to ponder the less bulky feel when placed down for the first time in them to run around.

I was rather fearful these thin diapers were going to leak everywhere. However, I'm happy to report they still were as absorbent as ever. The true test for me is always how a diaper does overnight on my little men. They fall a sleep practically chugging their water sippy cups most nights and only a highly absorbent diaper will do. The new dry max Pampers passed the overnight tests and both boys had dry evenings throughout using our sample provided.

The problem? I'm out now. I've used up my Dry Max Pampers sample pack entirely and these new high performance diapers don't hit shelves until Mid- March. I am begrudgingly using my former diapers again for now and the twins likely think I'm some big tease.

While I wait for these diapers to appear in my local store, I have a giveaway for you: I am awarding one (1) of my readers (U.S residents only) with a Liz Lange designer diaper clutch AND a redeemable coupon for a free week’s supply of the all-new Cruisers with Dry Max Diapers courtesy of Pampers. Mommy is Safe or Sibling Justice? A Mommy Failure

I asked this parenting tidbit on twitter yesterday and received some fun responses. I thought I'd post it here too:
Your toddler runs at you full speed with a toy stolen from their sibling (twin sibling in my case), do you pick him up saving him or allow him to be caught?

Here's what I did:  I saved him without thinking, then found myself realizing what he had done and put him back down. Upside for him was that his twin brother had moved on by the time I put him down to face judgment, bad part for him is he got away with being a total stinker.

A Failing Grade:  The way I handled this one ended up being a total Mommy failure in my opinion.  The only lesson learned was mine. If I had it to do over, I'd probably still pick him up.  However, this time I'd quickly take the toy and give it back to the first child who had it.  I'd then consider a time out or offering a diversion toy.

What would you have done?  Do you easily recognize your own list of Mommy failures?
