A 2011 New Year's Resolutions Gear Round-Up

Making New Year's resolutions are easy, keeping them not so much.  According to a story I recently read on Yahoo News.  The most popular resolutions include being happy, falling in love, saving money, getting a job, reading more, trying new foods and drinks, quitting smoking, running a marathon, taking a photo each day of the year (aka project 365), & last but not least lose weight.

If any of these resolutions are on your list, you'll want to checkout our list of items below that might be helpful on this quest.

On my own list this year?  Potty Training the Twins, Being More Organized, Weight Loss, & Stealing a little more "me" & "us" time.

YumYum Dishes:  YumYum dishes are designed to help promote healthy eating, correct portion size, and advocate fighting childhood obesity. They are available in four colors.  Each bowl includes a written message of encouragement at the bottom to end your snacking, letting you know that "Yum Yum time is over."  We were sent one of the yellow colored Yum Yum dishes by the company for review.  I thought it served as a nice aid in physically showing both kids and adults how much of a yummy thing is enough for one sitting.

The EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale:  What we loved the most about this scale sent by the company for review is the EatSmart "Step-On" technology.  This scale allows you to simply step on the scale and get your weights. No more tapping to activate the scale.  I'm all for quick and easy.  Additionally the slim, tempered glass design made this one of the most attractive scales I've seen.  No need for a plug, it runs on 4 AAA batteries.

Capturing Couture Camera Straps:  If you and your camera are going to be in separable this year, you might as well give your camera some unique style.  After all, it's practically acting as jewelry hanging from your wrist or neck all afternoon.  I adore the strap that was sent for review, a hidden plus is I can say "hand me the camera with the red patterned strap" and they'll know which one I'm talking about.  The strap includes a comfortable neck pad and very durable webbing.  Wrist straps are also available for those of you who sport the smaller point and shoot style cameras.

The Lightscoop:  Never miss another picture because of bad lighting again.  The Lightscoop transforms the awful light from your pop-up flash into pro-quality light. By redirecting the light from the pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall, Lightscoop creates a broad, natural light that eliminates unattractive shadows and red-eye, minimizes reflections off shiny surfaces, and also lights a group of people evenly, so those farthest from the camera are not lost in darkness. The result is soft, flattering, natural light.  I was sent one of these for review  by the company and put it to the test during the holidays with the help of my Canon EOS 20D DSLR.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to put on and take off the camera, and even happier with the results.  You'll want to see their site for further details.

The Kodak Pulse Photo Frame:  We bought two of these at Target on sale this Christmas and it's the best digital frame I've ever used.  The ability to load items from wifi is a lifesaver.  My favorite feature is that it can be linked to a Facebook account.  This allows the frame to displat photos uploaded to the linked account by the owner as well as "tagged" images.  Love it!

The Vera Bradley Tech Case:  I bought this case in the Baroque pattern as a Christmas gift for my daughter.  She keeps her phone in it, but it would make an equally wonderful case for a small digital camera or Flip Video case.  I love how the handle can be used to attach it to a bigger tote or purse for easy access.  If you are going to bring your camera everywhere this year, it's only fitting it look cute.
