Fortunately, Heelys has developed a new shoe that makes it easy for younger children to get in on all this fun. Heelys, creators of popular wheeled footwear, presents the all-new Hx2 for littler kids as young as 4 years old. Hx2 teaches youngsters balance and caution while learning the basics. With it's recent arrival in December, the Hx2 also comes in up to a size women’s 9, leaving mommy with no excuse not to join in the fun.
Heelys sent us both versions to aid us with this review and while it's snowy outside, the wood floors inside have allowed us to get in on the wheeled fun. I've decided that while I won't be joining the roller derby, having my own pair to demonstrate what to do and what not to do was a lot of fun. I'll definitely be trying them again as we take 1000 trips this Spring around my parents circular driveway, that is if I can wrestle them away from my daughter.What makes the Hx2 different from other Heelys shoes? Instead of one large wheel, the Hx2 has two smaller, removable wheels in each shoe. Not only is it easier to maintain balance, but wearers of the Hx2 do not require as much leg strength to lift their toes to skate. As beginners get the hang of skating, the Hx2 can be converted into a regular pair of Heelys for a more challenging ride simply by removing one of the wheels. It’s like training wheels for your feet.
To make it easy for you to tell these new "easier" skates from other pairs, they each sport the X2 logo on the side. Other great features include the fact that the kids styles have three sporty Velcro straps across the top to fasten it.
