Now you see the kitchen cabinet, Now you don't

Let the mess begin! There is no turning back now.  We started our mini kitchen makeover this weekend.  We began with a few items that would still leave the kitchen fully functional and toddler safe.  Once we remove the one little wall and take up the old flooring, we'll likely have to gate the room off from toddler visitors.

We began by removing 1 of the upper cabinets & part of the above soffet to completely open up the room.  I'm in love with the results.  While I lost a little storage the room feels far more open and spacious.  Well worth finding a new home for our sippy cup collection & parting with some plastic bowls.

I can't wait to see it once the cabinets & soffet drywall have been patched & touched up.  We also moved a cabinet on the other wall up closer to the ceiling.  It's now harder to reach things in that cabinet but it's added further to opening things up and making the counter under it more functional.

The paint shows the room we gained raising it.  We will complete the look by adding crown molding around the top & more painting is needed of course.  Plus, more room for a tile backsplash to be seen now.
