The National Raisin Company recently took on a not so simple quest, to make raisins as cool with kids as candy without losing the raisins are a healthy alternative part Moms love.
It may sound a bit like mission impossible to most, but after trying the resulting product (Raisels) with my family I think it is mission success.
Raisels
are golden raisins coated with sour flavors, like Sour Apple, Sour Peach, Sour Orange and Sour Lemon. The taste is much the same as some of your kids favorite sour and sweet candies. I was actually surprised how un-raisin like they were, with my eyes closed I'd easily have thought I was eating candy.
Note that they've added a bit of sugar to the raisins along with natural flavor, citric acid, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), sulfur dioxide. However, you'll find it to be significantly less than what's in most cookies, candies, and sodas. Plus, Raisels contain 100% of the U.S. recommended daily allowance for vitamin C, are fat free, cholesterol free and have no high fructose corn syrup and no sodium.

Much thanks to the National Raisin Company for providing me with samples via TeamMom for my review.
