Cooperative Games by Peaceable Kingdom (Giveaway)

All 5 of our children enjoy playing board games, especially when they are the winner.  Losing, well let's face it, that's never quite as much fun.  Nonetheless, there are lessons to be learned by both outcomes.  No one likes a sore loser or a gloating winner, so it's important your child experiences both.  The folks at Peaceable Kingdom recognize these important lessons, and have a line of traditional style card and board games that allow for those moments.

Peaceable Kingdom also has a line of cooperative games that puts the emphasis on cooperating and working together instead of competing against each other.  "Cooperative games emphasize play, not competition. Kids learn to work and play together in respectful and compassionate ways. They learn to share, make decisions together, and trust one another. Cooperative games encourage inclusion and build confidence."
We had the chance to try two of theses games, Count Your Chickens and Lost Puppies, with the kids including our almost three your old twins.  Both games provided by the company were a hit!  The twins really got into the concept of working together for one common goal and ultimately winning together as a team.

The need to work together to strategize how to best accomplish a shared task was especially emphasized in the Lost Puppies game.  In fact, we found that game play worked most efficiently when we talked over each persons turn a bit as a group.

I think these cooperative style games are a great addition to our game library.  Let's face it, some nights you aren't up to teaching the losing with grace lesson again and it's nice to know you have some options that aren't based on the one winner and multiple loses scenario.

Peaceable Kingdom takes cooperation one-step further by manufacturing their cooperative games using soy-based inks on FSC paper. Game parts are made with corn-based plastic. The 100% green ingredients are the company’s way of co-operating with the planet.

Want to try cooperation at your house?  We are giving away a copy of Lost Puppies to one lucky winner.
