Games by Educational Insights: KaBam & Kanoodle (Giveaway)

Education, school, learning, it is certainly the buzz of most parenting forums this month with the whole "back to school" process in full swing.  For some, it's a start of another year of home schooling curriculum and for others it is a return to the traditional classroom.  Regardless, I think we all agree that kids are sponges that need to soak up knowledge where ever and when ever they can.  The true learning process is an unending one that doesn't yield to a bell.

With that in mind, I love providing plenty of educational games for my kids to utilize when off the "official" school clock.  Educational Insights has proven to be a fabulous place to find loads of options including two games my older kids were busy playing these past few weeks.

The first is a 2D and/or 3D single play puzzle set called Kanoodle.  It's perfect for most kids in the grade 2 and beyond stage.  Kanoodle features colorful, connected beads that puzzlers use to create over 100 brain-building design challenges as illustrated by difficulty in the provided book.  The task is to simply build the designs as seen in the picture with the same provided pieces.  It proves to be a touch tricky when at the single level 2D stage and downright hard when hitting the more complicated 3D designs.  When done, the game stores all pieces inside it's provided portable, pocket-size case.

The second game is called KaBAM!  KaBAM is aimed at the 7 to 99 age group, so it can be introduced around that same area as the Kanoodle game. This game is all about speed and a good vocabulary. The fastest word-builders win this quick thinking, head-to-head word game. Two players face-off by drawing cards and setting them down next to each other, face up. Each card features word parts including suffixes, prefixes, single vowels, consonants and dipthongs. The first to build a word by adding one or more letters to the sets of letters on the cards wins the round. Think of it as a variation of War but with Words.
