Gardein Meatless Meals

Many of you may have read some recent studies showing that just one day a week without meat can reduce your consumption of saturated fat by 15% and reduce your chances of heart disease.  Sounds like a great idea in theory but try telling a house of 5 children that includes 2 teenage boys you are going vegetarian once a week.  Did I mention that one of the boys is a Varsity High School Football player?  No meat for a day?  Never Happen, or at least so I thought.

I decided not to tell them and swapped our normal brand of tenders for Gardein seven grain crispy tenders.  I served them last weekend for lunch and guess what?  The kids noticed they were not our normal brand but no one detected that they were actually not made of chicken at all.  They ate them all.

I ate some too and I thought they had a really nice taste.  I'm not sure I would have noticed they weren't chicken either if didn't already know.  I especially liked the crispy breading.

Gardein makes a slew of other meatless products and now that this first attempt passed with flying colors, I'm definitely going to try a few more on the kiddos.  I'm not brave enough to tell them yet though.  Mums the word, ok?

*Please note I was provided with a few vouchers to sample Gardein products for this review.  Opinions formed are my own.
